Coming Soon: Tarpon Beach Gulf Front Park to Expand Public Access in Destin
A new chapter in coastal access is about to begin for Destin residents and visitors. Okaloosa County is set to break ground on Tarpon Beach Gulf Front Park—a $16.75 million investment that will open up 340 feet of pristine Gulf shoreline to the public.
The groundbreaking ceremony is scheduled for Monday, July 7, 2025, at 9 a.m., at 3310 Scenic Highway 98. The park is part of a broader $26.5 million initiative aimed at improving public beach infrastructure across the region.
This project is the result of a powerful collaboration between the Okaloosa County Board of County Commissioners, the City of Destin, and the Trust for Public Land. Together, these partners are working to preserve the natural beauty of Destin’s coastline while increasing access for everyone to enjoy it.
What to Expect from Tarpon Beach Gulf Front Park:
🏖️ 340 feet of direct public beach access
🚗 Free parking with 49 regular spaces, 3 ADA-accessible spaces, and 29 spots for low-speed vehicles
🚻 Restroom facilities and 4 covered pavilions for shaded relaxation
🌅 Uninterrupted views of the Gulf and a layout designed with long-term coastal preservation in mind
Officials say the park is about more than amenities—it’s about protecting the coastal character of Destin while ensuring locals and tourists alike can enjoy the shoreline for generations to come.
Stay tuned for construction updates, and mark your calendars for the July 7th ceremony—it’s the start of something big for the Emerald Coast.
